Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. It is GlassDesk Labs LLC’s policy to respect your privacy and comply with any applicable law and regulation regarding any personal information we may collect about you, including across our website and the Dockside desktop application.
Personal information is any information about you which can be used to identify you. This includes information about you as a person (such as name and email address), your devices, payment details, and information about how you use our website or services.
In the event our site contains links to third-party sites and services, please be aware that those sites and services have their own privacy policies. After following a link to any third-party content, you should read their posted privacy policy information about how they collect and use personal information. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any of your activities after you leave our site.
This policy is current as of August 28, 2026.
Information We Collect
Information we collect falls into one of two categories: “voluntarily provided” information and “automatically collected” information.
“Voluntarily provided” information refers to any information you knowingly and actively provide us when using or participating in any of our services and promotions.
“Automatically collected” information refers to any information automatically sent by your devices in the course of accessing our products and services.
Log Data
When you visit our website, our hosting provider’s servers may automatically log standard data provided by your web browser. This may include your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, your browser type and version, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on each page, and other details about your visit.
Device Data
When you visit our website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics service, to collect aggregate usage data. This includes:
- Approximate geographic region (country and city level)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring website
- Pages visited and time spent
- Screen size category (desktop, tablet, mobile)
Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies, does not fingerprint individual users, and does not track users across websites. The data is aggregated and used to understand general site traffic patterns.
When you download Dockside from our site, or when the application checks for software updates, our servers record aggregate statistics — such as download counts, release channel, macOS chip type (Apple Silicon or Intel), and country — to understand adoption of the software. No cookies or persistent identifiers are used for this.
We do not export, retain, or analyze request logs for update checks. Our CDN provider, Cloudflare, processes IP addresses to deliver the request and may retain them briefly for security purposes under its own policy.
Update checks go to updates.heydockside.com. If that address is unreachable — some networks block custom domains — Dockside retries against our storage provider’s origin address directly.
Dockside does not collect information about your Mac in normal use. When you send a support request from inside the app, it includes the following so we can reproduce your issue: app version, platform, operating system and architecture, runtime versions, locale, total memory, uptime, and your email address.
Before sending, Dockside reduces any web addresses in the attached log to domain names only, and removes your Mac account name.
Apart from your license key and the random ID for your install, which go to Lemon Squeezy as described below, Dockside collects no personal data except what you send us directly when you contact support. All Dockside app data (including workspaces, settings, session data, and time logs) is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to GlassDesk Labs. Any access to passwords saved in other applications happens locally on your device, at your request, and is described under ‘Password Sign-In.’
Network Requests
Dockside has no analytics, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. It makes six kinds of network request, and no others:
- License check. Your license key and a random ID for your install, sent to Lemon Squeezy on launch and every few hours while the app runs.
- Update check. A request to our own server asking whether a new version exists.
- App icons. The web address of an app you add, sent to our own icon service. We do not log or retain any record of these requests. Cloudflare reports aggregate traffic counts for the service, as it does for any site it serves.
- Weather. Only if you turn on approximate location. Your city, or an estimate from your connection, sent to wttr.in.
- Support requests. Only when you send one from inside the app. Your email, some details about your Mac, and optionally a log excerpt, sent to Web3Forms.
- Protected video. The first time you play DRM content such as Netflix or Spotify, a certificate request goes to Google’s Widevine service.
The ID for your install is a random value, and it is pseudonymous rather than anonymous: it persists across launches, and Lemon Squeezy can associate it with the email address used to buy the license.
If Dockside cannot reach the license service, it keeps working for 7 days. After that it returns to the free tier until it can check in again.
Password Sign-In (Optional)
Dockside includes an optional feature that helps you sign in to third-party applications and websites using passwords you have already saved in another application (such as Google Chrome) on your device. When enabled and used on a sign-in page:
- It reads the matching username and password from that application’s local password store on your device only (macOS asks permission the first time; you authenticate with Touch ID).
- The password is used once to fill the form and then discarded.
- Dockside never stores, saves, syncs, logs, or transmits your passwords — not to GlassDesk Labs, any third party, or Dockside’s own storage or backups.
- The feature is off by default and can be toggled or declined anytime during the onboarding setup step or via settings.
Location
Dockside can show weather on the morning card. This is off by default on new installs, and only runs if you turn on “Use my approximate location” — either during the onboarding setup step or later in Settings → Privacy & Security.
When it is on, Dockside requests weather from wttr.in. If you have entered a city or postal code, that is what we send. If you have not, wttr.in estimates your city from the IP address of the request. The result is city-level only, never a precise location, and Dockside does not store or transmit the location it receives.
This permission covers approximate, IP-derived location only. If Dockside ever needs more precise location, or needs to send it to a different service, we will ask you again rather than rely on this permission.
Personal Information
We may collect personal information when you contact us through our website’s contact form. This includes:
- Name
- Email address
- Message content
- The topic of your inquiry
Sensitive Information
“Sensitive information” or “special categories of data” is a subset of personal information that is given a higher level of protection. Examples of sensitive information include information relating to your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion, trade union or other professional associations or memberships, philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, sexual practices or sex life, criminal records, health information, or biometric information.
We do not collect any of the categories of sensitive information listed above.
Transaction Data
When you purchase Dockside, our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) handles your transaction and shares with us the following information: name, email address, country (for tax purposes), order amount, license key, and order date.
We do not store or have access to your payment card details. All card data is handled directly by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy’s own privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy, available at https://www.lemonsqueezy.com/privacy.
Legitimate Reasons for Processing Your Personal Information
We only collect and use your personal information when we have a legitimate reason for doing so. In which instance, we only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our services to you.
Collection and Use of Information
We may collect personal information from you when you:
- Purchase Dockside through our website or our payment processor
- Submit a message through our contact form
- Request technical support or a refund
Security of Your Personal Information
When we collect and process personal information, and while we retain this information, we will protect it within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
Although we will do our best to protect the personal information you provide to us, we advise that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure and no one can guarantee absolute data security.
You are responsible for selecting any password and its overall security strength, ensuring the security of your own information within the bounds of our services.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need to. This time period may depend on what we are using your information for, in accordance with this privacy policy.
- Contact and support messages: when you contact us — through the form on this website or from inside the app — your message is held by our form provider for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Our copy of the message, and any reply, is kept in our email for 12 months and then deleted.
- Transaction data is retained by Lemon Squeezy per their retention policy. We retain access to this data via the Lemon Squeezy dashboard for accounting, tax compliance, license verification, and customer support purposes.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics data is aggregated and retained per Cloudflare’s policy.
- Aggregate download statistics contain no personal information and are retained for approximately three months per Cloudflare’s policy.
If your personal information is no longer required, we will delete it or make it anonymous by removing all details that identify you. However, if necessary, we may retain your personal information for our compliance with a legal, accounting, or reporting obligation or for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific, or historical research purposes or statistical purposes.
Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties
We may disclose personal information to the following service providers, each of whom handles data on our behalf for the purposes described.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle the data we share with them.
Your Rights and Controlling Your Personal Information
Your choice: By providing personal information to us, you understand we will collect, hold, use, and disclose your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. You do not have to provide personal information to us, however, if you do not, it may affect your use of our website or the products and/or services offered on or through it.
Information from third parties: If we receive personal information about you from a third party, we will protect it as set out in this privacy policy. If you are a third party providing personal information about somebody else, you represent and warrant that you have such person’s consent to provide the personal information to us.
Marketing permission: We may email you about your purchase, about updates to Dockside, and about changes to these terms. We do not sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Access and correction: Wherever you live, you may request details of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. We will take reasonable steps to correct any information found to be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or out of date. If the GDPR or California law applies to you, the sections below set out further rights.
Non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights over your personal information. Unless your personal information is required to provide you with a particular service or offer (for example, processing transaction data), we will not deny you goods or services and/or charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties, or provide you with a different level or quality of goods or services.
Notification of data breaches: We will comply with laws applicable to us in respect of any data breach.
Complaints: If you believe that we have breached a relevant data protection law and wish to make a complaint, please contact us using the details below and provide us with full details of the alleged breach. We will promptly investigate your complaint and respond to you, in writing, setting out the outcome of our investigation and the steps we will take to deal with your complaint. You also have the right to contact a regulatory body or data protection authority in relation to your complaint.
Unsubscribe: Any marketing or product-announcement email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and unsubscribing applies to all email of that kind. Transactional messages that we need to send about your subscription, purchase, license, or changes to these terms are not marketing and are not covered by that link. You may also ask us to stop by contacting us through the form on our website. We may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity.
Lawful Basis for Processing
If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation requires us to name the basis on which we process your personal information. We rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract — taking your payment, issuing and validating your license key, and providing the Pro features you have bought.
- Legitimate interests — answering your support requests, checking whether a new version of Dockside exists, and keeping our website and services secure and working. Where we rely on this basis, we have considered whether our interests are overridden by your own interests, rights and freedoms.
- Consent — showing weather on the morning card, which runs only if you turn on “Use my approximate location.” You may withdraw this consent at any time by turning that setting off, which does not affect any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
- Legal obligation — keeping the transaction records we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes.
Your Rights Under the GDPR
If the General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, you have the following rights over your personal information. To exercise any of them, contact us. We may need to ask you for information to confirm your identity before we act on a request.
- Access — to be told whether we hold personal information about you and to receive a copy of it.
- Rectification — to have inaccurate information corrected and incomplete information completed.
- Erasure — to have your personal information deleted, where the law allows.
- Restriction — to ask us to limit how we use your information while a dispute about it is resolved.
- Objection — to object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests.
- Portability — to receive the information you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and to have it sent to another provider where that is technically feasible.
- Withdrawing consent — to withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.
- Complaint — to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the country where you live or work.
California Privacy Rights
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done either in the preceding twelve months. “Sell” and “share” have the meanings given to them by the California Consumer Privacy Act. Because we do neither, we do not offer a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you and how we have used it, the right to receive a copy of it, the right to have it corrected, and the right to have it deleted. Because we do not collect the categories described under “Sensitive Information” above, there is no use of sensitive personal information for you to limit. To exercise any of these rights, contact us. We will not discriminate against you for doing so, as described under “Non-discrimination” above.
Children
Dockside is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe that a child under 16 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Transfers
GlassDesk Labs is a United States company, and the service providers named above process data in the United States and, in some cases, other countries. If you use Dockside from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal information will be transferred to countries whose data-protection laws differ from your own.
Where our providers receive personal data from those regions, they do so under safeguards published in their own terms: Cloudflare and Google are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Lemon Squeezy and Web3Forms incorporate the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses into their data-processing agreements, and where no such safeguard applies, the transfer is necessary to provide the service you requested. Weather requests go to wttr.in, a free community service, only if you turn on approximate location; that transfer is necessary to provide the weather you asked for, and you may turn it off at any time.
Beyond that, we transfer personal information only where it is necessary to provide what you have asked for — completing your purchase, validating your license, or answering a message you sent us.
Business Transfers
If we or our assets are acquired, or in the unlikely event that we go out of business or enter bankruptcy, we would include data, including your personal information, among the assets transferred to any parties who acquire us. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any parties who acquire us may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, continue to use your personal information according to this policy, which they will be required to assume as it is the basis for any ownership or use rights we have over such information.
Limits of Our Policy
Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and policies of those sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.
Changes to This Policy
At our discretion, we may change our privacy policy to reflect updates to our business processes, current acceptable practices, or legislative or regulatory changes. If we decide to change this privacy policy, we will post the changes here at the same link by which you are accessing this privacy policy.
If required by law, we will get your permission or give you the opportunity to opt in to or opt out of, as applicable, any new uses of your personal information.
